Dr. Bonder always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a child and was determined to become one. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in downtown Toronto for 15 years. She has developed a strong interest in feline medicine and feline dentistry. She is training to become a fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentist. She is also a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practioners and the American Veterinary Dental Association.
Today, Dr. Bonder continues to be well trained by her four feline family members, she lives with Co-Co, Tinkerbell, Shady and Fat Harley. Her first job as a veterinarian was at a Cat Hospital where she learned that cats rule. They have taught her how to respectfully handle and work with cats, to understand the needs of cats in their home as well as their healthcare, and to ensure that they have the best quality and length of life.
Dr. Bonder recognized that cats were the underdog, and she knew they needed a better place. She wanted her practice to celebrate the special bond between a cat and their owners. After much planning and with the help and support of her partner Kevin and her kids she started the Downtown Toronto Cat Clinic. Dr. Bonder still feels that cats need better treatment, respectful handling in a “feline-friendly” veterinary hospital, and with people who recognize that cats and their people deserve the best. Communication, education, affection, top-quality, cutting-edge veterinary care, service, and aesthetics were all considered as core values for the type of feline hospital she wanted to create.
