Melanie Bonder always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a child and was determined to become one. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in downtown Toronto for 13 years.
Dr. Bonder has developed a strong interest in feline medicine and feline dentistry. She worked at the Bay Cat Hospital and then then Annex Animal Hospital prior to opening this clinic. She is a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practioners and the American Veterinary Dental Association.
The last years Dr. Bonder has focused her continuing education on dentistry and has attended many dental courses and conferences on feline dentistry.
Today, Dr. Bonder continues to be well trained by her three feline family members she lives with Tinkerbell, Shady (a.k.a. snorty) and fat Harley. Her first job as a veterinarian was at a Cat Hospital where she learned that cats rule. They have taught her how to respectfully handle and work with cats, to understand the needs of cats in their home as well as their healthcare, and to ensure that they have the best quality and length of life. Dr. Bonder feels that cats are less stressed in an environment away from the stress and smells of dogs.
After much planning and with the help and support of her partner Kevin and her kids she started the Downtown Toronto Cat Clinic.
