Spay & Neuter Procedures

Help your cat live a long, healthy life.

Deciding whether to spay or neuter your cat can be a difficult decision for some pet owners. Although the thought of your pet having surgery may seem scary, we’re here to assure you that spays and neuters are common surgeries that are safe, simple, and generally quick.

Spaying

Spaying is the surgical procedure performed on female cats to remove the ovaries and uterus so they're not able to have kittens.  We recommend spaying your cat at 6 months of age.

The Benefits of Spaying Your Female Cat:

  • Eliminates the heat cycle and associated symptoms such as crying, nervous pacing, the desire to roam, and the excretion of blood
  • Stops unwelcome visits by male suitors
  • Reduces the risk of breast cancer, one of the most common malignancies in the female feline
  • Prevents diseases of the uterus such as severe infection and ovaries as well as some skin disorders
  • Contribute to the prevention of cat overpopulation
  • Your cat will generally live a longer, happier life

Neutering

Neutering is the surgical procedure performed on male cats to remove the testicles so they're unable to breed. We recommend neutering your cat at 6 months of age.

The Benefits of Neutering Your Male Cat:

  • Reduces or eliminates the tendency to mark territory with strong-smelling urine
  • Prevents prostate disease and certain cancers
  • May reduce the likelihood that your pet will stray from home and become lost or injured
  • Contributes to the prevention of cat overpopulation.
  •  Eliminates undesirable and often embarrassing behavior in your male cat
  • Your cat will generally live a longer, happier life.
